The Pony Express, operational from April 1860 to October 1861, was a short-lived but iconic mail delivery service during the American West's early days. Spanning over 1,900 miles from Missouri to California, riders on horseback covered vast distances, reducing mail delivery time considerably. Its legacy lies in its role as a rapid communication link, crucial during the pre-telegraph era. Despite its brief existence, the Pony Express captured the imagination of the American public, symbolizing the daring spirit of the Wild West.
