They gained infamy for their bank and train robberies, fleeing to South America to evade the law. Billy the Kid (1859–1881), alias of William H. Bonney, was a gunslinger and cattle rustler involved in the Lincoln County War. Jesse James (1847–1882) was a renowned outlaw and leader of the James–Younger Gang, infamous for their bank and train heists during the post-Civil War era.
