An endearing homage to Geronimo "one who yawns" the famed leader of the Chiricahua Apache who resisted Mexican and US expansion into Apache tribal lands for several decades. His skillful guerrilla warfare tactics and evasion of capture earned him a formidable reputation. Despite surrendering in 1886, Geronimo faced exile to Florida and later imprisonment in Alabama. Geronimo died of pneumonia in 1909, as a prisoner of the USA at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His legacy embodies the struggle of Native American resistance against encroachment. Geronimo's name became synonymous with defiance, and he remains an enduring symbol of Apache resilience and Native American resistance.
