Duffy's Cut is a tragic and controversial incident in American history that occurred in the early 1830s during the construction of the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad in Pennsylvania. It was named after Philip Duffy, an Irish immigrant who employed a group of fellow Irish immigrants to work on the railroad's construction.

The workers, mostly recent immigrants from the Ulster counties of Donegal, Tyrone, and Derry, faced harsh conditions, low pay, and discrimination. In 1832, a cholera epidemic broke out at the worksite, claiming the lives of many.

The exact details of what transpired at Duffy's Cut remain unclear, but historical evidence suggests that many of the workers were possibly murdered to prevent the spread of the disease.

In 2004, the remains of several workers were discovered at Duffy's Cut, shedding light on this dark chapter in American history. The incident serves as a reminder of the hardships faced by immigrant workers in the 19th century and the need to remember and honor their contributions and sacrifices.
