Mulligan's Brigade, also known as the "Irish Brigade," was a Union Army unit during the American Civil War, led by Colonel James A. Mulligan. Comprising primarily Irish immigrants from Chicago and the Midwest, the brigade was noted for its fierce loyalty and bravery. They gained fame in the 1861 Battle of Lexington, Missouri, where despite being outnumbered, they held out against Confederate forces. Mulligan's leadership and the brigade's courage earned them a lasting place in Civil War history.
